Jill C. Tyson has dedicated over 22 years to public service at the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI, and Congress. Jill has extensive experience handling national security and law enforcement policy, legal, investigative, oversight, media, and operational matters.
She most recently served as the FBI Assistant Director for the Office of Congressional Affairs where she led a team of special agents, attorneys, and professional staff As the FBI's top liaison and principal Hill advisor, Jill managed all FBI interactions with Congress. She also guided FBI executive leadership through congressional testimony, investigations, and oversight. Additionally, Jill served proudly as the co-chair of the FBI's Diversity Committee.
Prior to joining the FBI in 2018, Jill held a number of positions in the Department of Justice. She served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legislative Affairs where she successfully managed the Senate confirmation of more than ten Presidential appointees and numerous U.S. Attorneys. She has longstanding, bipartisan relationships with Committees, Members, and staff in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
Her background in media and crisis communications served her well as the Chief Public Information Officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She also found her passion for the law as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney prosecuting criminal matters in Washington, D.C.
Jill began her career working on Capitol Hill in multiple roles for the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
Jill received her law degree from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Sutton Tyson is an avid journalist, storyteller, and justice advocate. For almost a decade, Sutton has provided timely and accurate information to the media and public surrounding national security, politics, and justice.
Sutton joined CBS News in 2022 as Booking Producer and is responsible for securing federal government, political, economic, and breaking news guests for CBS News Streaming Network.
Prior to her current role at CBS News, in 2017, Sutton began working at the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a spokesperson in the National Press Office. She represented the FBI with national and international media outlets, covering national security, criminal, and counterintelligence matters.
Sutton followed her passion for justice, serving as the Strategic Partnerships Associate at the Human Trafficking Institute. She also served in multiple roles at International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization working to end violence against people living in poverty. During her time with IJM, Sutton led hundreds of college students as president of the National Student Leadership Team. She also helped launch the global Stand for Freedom awareness campaign in 2016.
In her spare time, Sutton enjoys helping companies expand their marketing social media strategies. Sutton graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Purdue University.
